Grand Day Out

This is one of the public footpaths we walked. They are all over the countryside and one can walk for days and days on them. There are over 140,000 miles of public footpaths in England and Wales alone. I've seen many different types of gates and stiles. They're in very good shape and quite ingenious, keeping animals in while letting trekkers through. (click below for more info). The paths go right through people's yards and we saw folks out weeding and planting in their gardens and they were all very nice. Janet said if you don't like folks going through your yard, you don't buy the place.
